TLDR: If you're reading this stop reading and buy this litter box. You won't be sorry.
We have 5 cats, we love our cats but... 5 cats is a lot of cats and a lot of cat poop. I'm tired of scooping cat poop or ignoring the cat poop scooping and dealing with smelly cat litter boxes. Last year before Christmas there was a sale on one of the cylinder style automatic cat litter boxes, it was cool because it would tell you when a cat when to the bathroom their weight and would tell me when it was full. It was not cool because it was a pain to clean and the bags liked to come loose making a mess. We needed a second automatic litter box because well, we have 5 cats and one of them is a bit fluffy and had trouble using the other style (or I was worried he would). I saw this model on sale and liked that it was more open, got good reviews and was a good price. I've replaced all of my litter boxes except for one traditional one because I don't have power nearby with this model (including the more expensive cylinder one which has now broken).
What I Like:
-Ease of emptying litter: You pull the tray out, pull the bag out, insert new bag put tray in throw bag in trash done.
-Ease of cleaning: It is much easier to disassemble to deep clean and really just about all of it can be surfaced cleaned without any disassembly.
-Software (or lack of): It turns out that I don't really care when my cats poop and I don't need a notification about it. Instead of a notification that it's full it rotates closed so they can't use it anymore and I empty it. Easy, simple.
-Cost: If you're buying it on sale it's probably between $160 and $200 dollars, worth it, no hesitation. I'd probably pay $250 for it but with a bit more hesitation.
What I Don't Like About it:
-Plastic thing to empty the litter: If you want to empty the litter there's a diverter shield thing you put in the machine to route the litter into the tray area instead of the holding area when it cycles. It doesn't hold in place well and will come loose so not all the litter goes into the tray. It's mildly annoying but really for the cost saving compared to more expensive units I don't care. I usually do it twice or pull out the shop vac and vacuum out any extra litter.
-It's a bigger than a traditional litter box, make the space for it. It's worth it.
Summary:
Why are you still readying this, haven't you gotten the message that you should buy this? It will make your life so much easier.
Been 6 months with no issues. Cats are safe and use it daily. It has a long delay so not a chance of them getting hurt. If anything, opening it smells like death so it hides smells really well that I don't notice at all til I change the bag. Worth the lower price risk. Easy to setup. Quiet. Only takes used litter into bottom bag.
Purchased this because with three cats we were scooping litter constantly with two regular litter boxes. This automatic litter box is the real deal. We have had for over a month with no issues. The cats took to it right away. Easy to assemble. Our litter consumption has been cut in half. Odor is a none issue. The litter clumps do not stick to the bottom. We use the Arm & Hammer Clump and Seal Platinum and it works great with it. Our young male cat really like to throw the litter around so litter does escape. With three cats, the receptacle has to be emptied every three days. If I had one complaint, if the receptacle gets over filled, the device senses this when it gets done with it's cleaning cycle it stays closed. We found this out early on when we were trying to determine how often to empty it. Kittys weren't impressed and did their business right beside it. That's how we figured out three days was the limit with three cats. Save your money and get this one. For $150, I'm seriously considering buying a second one for a backup in case something happens to this one because it works that well.
I spent days trying to pick an automatic litter box, and finally decided on this one.. and I’m so happy I did. This is some of the best money I have ever spent. I was nervous because my younger cat is very picky about her litter box and if she doesn’t like it she will poop on the floor beside it. And she used it after a couple days of seeing my other cat use it and realized it always stays clean. I just left the old litter box and didn’t clean it like normal and eventually she didn’t want anything to do with the old one. And my goodness, it’s so nice not having to scoop all the time and still not having to smell anything. Admittedly I let it get too full one time and I still couldn’t smell anything. You don’t even have to see it. You just pull the strap that you leave out when putting a new bag in, and it closes the bag before you even pull out the tray. It’s so nice. And even more quiet than my other crystal and rake automatic litter box. Which I love because my younger cat is also a scardy cat lol if it’s in the middle of a spin and my cat even so much as touches it with her paw it stops. The only thing that could be better is my larger cat (15 lbs) is kind of big for it but he still uses it. So it could be a little bigger inside but that’s only a small con compared to all the good so far. Not sure about how long it will last because I’ve only had it like a month but it seems promising. And I will be getting a 2nd one and will always go with this brand.
Product came with very clear instructions for how to set it up. Cats were very intrigued and used it within 20 minutes. We have a chunky 15 lb and a little 7 lb cat. After 24 hours, the litter was still very clean and the bag underneath is filled with pee and turds. I think the cats appreciate having clean litter every time they need to go. The only problem is the fat cat can’t completely fit in the litter box, and she occasionally hangs her butt over the edge and ends up peeing and pooping outside the box on the mat. She thinks she is going in the litter. Other reviews talked about large cats being ok with this box, but I would not recommend it for big cats, that’s the only reason I gave it 4 stars.
